Famotidine 40 Hovid 40 mg

Indication

Treatment of active duodenal ulcer, benign gastric ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Also used to reduce gastric acid secretion.

Ingredients

• Famotidine

Direction

Adults: usually 40 mg once daily at bedtime, or 20 mg twice daily, for 4 to 8 weeks. Maintenance: 20 mg once daily at bedtime. Dosage should be adjusted by the prescribing physician. Swallow whole with water.

Side effects

• May include headache
• dizziness
• constipation
• and diarrhoea. Rare side effects include skin rash
• hypersensitivity reactions
• and changes in liver enzymes. Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist immediately if you experience any unusual or severe reactions.

Precautions

• Prescription
• only medicine (POM). Use under medical supervision. Inform your doctor of any kidney impairment
• pregnancy
• or breastfeeding. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have other medical conditions or are taking other medications. Symptomatic response to famotidine does not preclude the presence of gastric malignancy.
