Amitriptyline Hydrochloride GPO 10mg 10 mg

Indication

Treatment of major depression. Also used for neuropathic pain, nocturnal enuresis in children over 6 years, and as adjunctive therapy for migraine prophylaxis.

Ingredients

• Amitriptyline hydrochloride

Direction

Adults: oral, initially 25 mg two to four times a day. The dosage can be adjusted by the physician as needed up to 150 mg a day. Adolescents and elderly: oral, 10 mg three times a day and 20 mg before bedtime, adjusted as needed. Children 6 to 12 years: oral, 10 to 30 mg a day in two divided doses or as directed by the physician. Swallow whole with water.

Side effects

• May include drowsiness
• dry mouth
• blurred vision
• constipation
• urinary retention
• dizziness
• weight gain
• and orthostatic hypotension. Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist immediately if you experience cardiac arrhythmia
• suicidal thoughts
• severe confusion
• or signs of allergic reaction.

Precautions

• Prescription
• only medicine. Use under medical supervision. Avoid abrupt discontinuation. Inform your doctor of any cardiovascular disease
• glaucoma
• urinary retention
• hyperthyroidism
• history of seizures or mania
• pregnancy
• or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol. May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have other medical conditions or are taking other medications.
