Indication
Short-term treatment of insomnia in adults — for situational, transient, or chronic insomnia where the severity of the disorder warrants treatment.
Ingredients
- Zolpidem tartrate
Direction
Adults under 65 years: 10 mg as a single dose immediately before bedtime (au coucher). Elderly or patients with hepatic impairment: 5 mg at bedtime, increased to 10 mg only if needed and well tolerated. Treatment duration should be as short as possible — usually a few days to 2 weeks, with a maximum of 4 weeks including taper.
Side effects

- gastrointestinal disturbances
- complex sleep
- related behaviours (sleep

- driving)
- memory impairment
- and paradoxical reactions. Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist immediately if you experience severe allergic reaction or any unusual sleep

Precautions
- Prescription
- only medicine (Liste I). Strict prescription duration of 28 days. Risk of dependence
- tolerance
- and rebound insomnia — avoid abrupt discontinuation. Do not use during pregnancy without medical advice. Avoid alcohol. May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery — do not drive (warning level 3). Not recommended in patients with severe respiratory insufficiency
- severe sleep apnoea
- severe hepatic impairment
- myasthenia gravis
- or history of substance abuse. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have other medical conditions or are taking other medications.
