Indication

Treatment of acute diarrhoea in adults and children above 2 years, in addition to oral rehydration. Symptomatic treatment of chronic functional diarrhoea in adults. Symptomatic treatment of pain associated with functional bowel diseases in adults. Orange-vanilla flavour, powder for oral suspension.

Adults: average 3 sachets per day, in 3 divided doses. Children 1 to 2 years: 1 to 2 sachets per day. Children above 2 years: 2 to 3 sachets per day. Infants under 1 year: 1 sachet per day. The contents of the sachet should be dissolved in water (50 mL) for infants and children, or half a glass of water for adults. To be taken preferably after meals in case of oesophagitis, or away from meals in other indications.

Side effects

• Generally well tolerated. May occasionally cause constipation
• especially with prolonged use. Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist or any unusual reaction occurs.

Precautions

• Use in combination with oral rehydration in acute diarrhoea
• especially in children. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if diarrhoea persists for more than 7 days
• or if there are signs of severe dehydration. Diosmectite may reduce the absorption of other medications — separate doses by at least 1 to 2 hours. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
