Indication
- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus - Insulin resistance management - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (off-label)
Ingredients
- Metformin Hydrochloride
Direction
Take orally with or after meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Usually started at 500mg once or twice daily.
Side effects
- Diarrhea
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Metallic taste in mouth
- Vitamin B12 deficiency
Precautions
- Contraindicated in severe renal impairment
- Risk of lactic acidosis
- Monitor renal function regularly
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
- Discontinue before certain radiologic studies
