Indication
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus - Prediabetes management - Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) - Glycemic control in adults
Ingredients
- Metformin Hydrochloride
Direction
Take orally with or after meals to reduce stomach upset. Usually started once or twice daily as prescribed.
Side effects
- Diarrhea
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Metallic taste in mouth
- Vitamin B12 deficiency
Precautions
- Risk of rare lactic acidosis
- Contraindicated in severe renal failure
- Monitor kidney function regularly
- Suspend during iodinated contrast imaging
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
