Indication
- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus - Glycemic control in adults - Glycemic control in children 10+ - Prevention of type 2 diabetes - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (off-label)
Ingredients
- Metformin Hydrochloride
Direction
Take orally with or after meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water.
Side effects
- Diarrhea
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Loss of appetite
- Metallic taste in mouth
- Vitamin B12 deficiency
Precautions
- Monitor renal function regularly
- Risk of lactic acidosis
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
- Discontinue before iodinated contrast imaging
- Contraindicated in severe renal failure
