Indication
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus - Glycemic control in adults - Management of insulin resistance - Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
Ingredients
- Metformin Hydrochloride
Direction
Take orally with or after meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Swallow tablets whole with water, usually once or twice daily.
Side effects
- Diarrhea and nausea
- Abdominal pain or bloating
- Loss of appetite
- Metallic taste in mouth
- Vitamin B12 deficiency long
- term
Precautions
- Monitor kidney function regularly
- Risk of rare lactic acidosis
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
- Temporary discontinuation before imaging tests
- Use caution in heart failure
