Indication
- Management of primary and secondary gout - Prevention of uric acid kidney stones - Hyperuricemia associated with cancer chemotherapy - Treatment of recurrent calcium oxalate stones
Ingredients
- Allopurinol
Direction
Take orally once daily after a meal to minimize stomach irritation. Drink plenty of fluids (at least 2 liters daily) during treatment.
Side effects
- Skin rash or itching
- Nausea and gastrointestinal distress
- Initial increase in gout flare
- ups
- Drowsiness or dizziness
- Elevation of liver enzymes
Precautions
- Discontinue immediately at first sign of rash
- Monitor kidney and liver function regularly
- Use with caution in renal impairment
- Risk of severe hypersensitivity reactions
- Maintain high fluid intake daily
