Indication
- Acute urinary tract infections - Cystitis treatment - Prevention of recurrent UTIs - Urinary tract infection prophylaxis
Ingredients
- Nitrofurantoin (Macrocrystalline)
Direction
Take orally with food or milk to enhance absorption. Swallow whole; do not crush or chew macrocrystals.
Side effects
- Nausea and vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Brownish discoloration of urine
- Diarrhea
- Headache or dizziness
Precautions
- Contraindicated in severe renal impairment
- Not for use in late pregnancy
- Monitor for pulmonary toxicity long
- term
- Avoid with G6PD deficiency
- Risk of peripheral neuropathy
