Indication

Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Ciprofloxacin 500 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician. Usual adult dose is 250-500 mg twice daily, or as prescribed.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea or abdominal discomfort
• Headache
• dizziness or insomnia
• Tendon pain or inflammation (rare but serious)
• Photosensitivity or skin rash

Precautions

• Avoid excessive sun exposure during treatment
• Use with caution in patients with a history of tendon disorders or epilepsy
• Avoid taking with dairy products or antacids as they reduce absorption
