Indication

Enam contains enalapril maleate, an ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitor used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), symptomatic heart failure, and to slow the progression of certain kidney problems. It works by relaxing blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and reduces the workload on the heart.

Ingredients

• Enalapril maleate 10 mg

Direction

Take as directed by the physician. The usual starting dose for hypertension is 5 mg once daily, adjusted by the doctor; swallow with water.

• Increased blood potassium

Precautions

• Do not use during pregnancy
• ACE inhibitors can cause serious harm to the unborn baby
• Seek emergency care if swelling of the face
• lips
• tongue or throat occurs (angioedema)
• Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment or renal artery stenosis
• Monitor blood pressure and blood potassium
• avoid potassium supplements unless advised
