Indication
Prosan contains losartan potassium, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy, and to protect kidney function in patients with type 2 diabetes and nephropathy. It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood flows more easily.
Ingredients
- Losartan potassium 50 mg
Direction
Take as directed by the physician. The usual dose for hypertension is 50 mg once daily, adjusted by the doctor; may be taken with or without food.
Side effects
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Low blood pressure
- Increased blood potassium
- Back pain
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- stop if irritation or allergy occurs
Precautions
- Do not use during pregnancy
- ARBs can cause serious harm to the unborn baby
- Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment or renal artery stenosis
- May cause low blood pressure
- especially in dehydrated patients or those on diuretics
- Monitor blood potassium
- avoid potassium supplements unless advised
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- stop if irritation or allergy occurs
