Indication
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent) when diet, physical exercise and weight reduction alone are not adequate to control blood sugar.
Ingredients
- Glimepiride 2 mg
Direction
As directed by the physician or see package insert for full prescribing information. Usually taken once daily with or immediately before the first main meal.
Side effects
- Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar): symptoms include sweating
- trembling
- hunger
- dizziness
- confusion
- Weight gain
- Nausea
- vomiting or abdominal discomfort
- Visual disturbances
- especially at start of treatment
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- stop if irritation or allergy occurs
Precautions
- Use with caution in elderly
- debilitated or malnourished patients and those with kidney or liver impairment due to higher risk of hypoglycaemia
- Take regular meals
- skipping meals increases the risk of low blood sugar
- Tell your doctor if pregnant
- planning pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Alcohol may increase the risk of hypoglycaemia
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- stop if irritation or allergy occurs
