Glucophage 500 mg

Indication

Used together with diet and exercise to control high blood sugar in adults and children with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Ingredients

• Metformin hydrochloride 500 mg

Direction

Take by mouth with or after meals as directed by a physician, usually starting at a low dose and increasing gradually. Swallow whole with water. Do not crush or chew.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting or diarrhoea
• especially when starting treatment
• Stomach pain or loss of appetite
• Metallic taste in the mouth
• Reduced vitamin B12 absorption with long
• term use

Precautions

• Rarely may cause lactic acidosis
• seek urgent care for unusual muscle pain
• trouble breathing
• severe drowsiness or extreme weakness
• Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems before use
• Temporarily stop before procedures using contrast dye or major surgery
• as advised by your doctor
• Avoid excessive alcohol while taking this medicine
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• stop if irritation or allergy occurs
