Diamicron MR 30 mg

Indication

Treatment of type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise and weight loss alone do not adequately control blood glucose.

Ingredients

• Gliclazide 30 mg

Direction

Swallow the tablet whole or split into two equal halves; do not chew or crush. Usually taken once daily at breakfast. Follow the dosage instructions of your doctor.

Side effects

• Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar): sweating
• trembling
• hunger
• weakness
• dizziness
• confusion
• Gastrointestinal upset: nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain
• Skin reactions such as rash or itching
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• stop if irritation or allergy occurs

Precautions

• Take regular meals
• skipping meals increases the risk of low blood sugar
• Use with caution in elderly patients and those with kidney or liver impairment
• Avoid in severe kidney or liver disease
• Limit alcohol
• which can increase the risk of hypoglycaemia
