Indication

Antiparkinsonian anticholinergic used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and drug-induced extrapyramidal (movement) disorders.

Ingredients

• Trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride 5 mg

Direction

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose is individualised and usually started low and increased gradually; do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Side effects

• Dry mouth and reduced sweating
• Blurred vision
• Constipation and difficulty passing urine
• Dizziness and confusion
• especially in the elderly
• Rapid heartbeat

Precautions

• Prescription medicine
• use only under medical supervision
• Contains wheat starch (gluten)
• caution in coeliac disease
• May impair ability to drive or operate machinery
• Use with caution in glaucoma
• prostate enlargement and heart disease
• Do not use in pregnancy except where no alternative exists
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• stop if irritation or allergy occurs
