Vitascorbine 500 500 mg

Indication

Vitascorbine 500 is a vitamin C supplement used for the treatment and prevention of scurvy and for vitamin C deficiency. At higher doses it is used to treat asthenia (fatigue), during colds and flu-like states, convalescence, to increase the body's resistance to cold, during periods of growth in children, and during pregnancy and breastfeeding to support the body's defences.

Ingredients

• Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) 500 mg

Direction

Adults: 1 to 2 tablets per day. Children 6 to 15 years: ½ to 1 tablet per day. Read the leaflet carefully before use, or use as directed by a doctor or pharmacist.

Side effects

• Generally well tolerated
• High doses may cause stomach upset or diarrhea
• Increased risk of kidney stones with prolonged high doses
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• stop if irritation or allergy occurs

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with a history of kidney stones or oxalate kidney disease
• Use with caution in patients with iron overload disorders (e.g. haemochromatosis)
• Do not exceed the recommended dose
• Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding if taking high doses
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
