Lactul Solution 670 mg/mL

Indication

For the treatment of constipation and hepatic encephalopathy.

Ingredients

• Lactulose 670 mg/mL

Direction

Adults: 15 to 30 mL daily as a single dose or in 2 divided doses, gradually reduced to a maintenance dose of 10 to 15 mL daily. Children 6 to 12 years: 20 mL daily; 1 to 5 years: 10 mL daily; under 1 year: 5 mL daily. Hepatic encephalopathy: 30 to 50 mL three times daily, adjusted to produce 2 to 3 soft stools daily.

Side effects

• May cause flatulence
• abdominal cramps or diarrhoea
• especially at higher doses. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• stop if irritation or allergy occurs.

Precautions

• Contains galactose and lactose
• use with caution in diabetics and in patients with lactose intolerance. Use with caution in pregnancy and lactation. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
