Indication
- Nausea and vomiting - Diabetic gastroparesis - Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Facilitation of small bowel intubation - Prevention of chemotherapy-induced emesis
Ingredients
- Metoclopramide
Direction
Take orally 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime. Usually taken up to 4 times daily for no longer than 12 weeks.
Side effects
- Drowsiness and fatigue
- Restlessness and akathisia
- Extrapyramidal symptoms (muscle spasms)
- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
Precautions
- Risk of irreversible tardive dyskinesia
- Avoid in gastrointestinal hemorrhage or obstruction
- Contraindicated in patients with pheochromocytoma
- Use caution in Parkinson's disease
- May cause depression or suicidal ideation
