Indication

- Meningitis - Sepsis and septicemia - Lower respiratory tract infections - Urinary tract infections - Bone and joint infections - Skin and soft tissue infections - Surgical infection prophylaxis - Pelvic inflammatory disease

• Ceftriaxone Sodium

Direction

Administered via intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) injection. Dose and frequency depend on infection severity and patient weight.

Side effects

• Diarrhea
• Nausea and vomiting
• Local injection site pain
• Skin rash or pruritus
• Eosinophilia or thrombocytosis

Precautions

• History of cephalosporin hypersensitivity
• Potential cross
• reactivity with penicillin allergy
• Avoid calcium
• containing diluents in neonates
• Monitor patients with gallbladder disease
• Caution in renal or hepatic impairment
