Indication

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly in overweight patients when dietary management and exercise alone are insufficient

• Metformin HCl 500 mg

Side effects

• May cause gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• and abdominal pain
• especially at initiation. Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious risk. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if adverse effects arise.

Precautions

• To be used on medical prescription only. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. Not for use in patients with renal impairment
• hepatic failure
• or conditions predisposing to lactic acidosis. Stop use and seek medical advice if adverse effects occur.
