Starcef 200 mg

Indication

Treatment of bacterial infections including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime trihydrate equivalent to Cefixime anhydrate 200 mg

Direction

Adults: 400 mg daily as a single dose or in two divided doses of 200 mg. Duration as directed by physician. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Consult a doctor or pharmacist if side effects occur. May include diarrhoea
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• headache
• dizziness
• rash
• and elevated liver enzymes. Stop use and seek medical attention if severe hypersensitivity reaction or colitis develops.

Precautions

• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins. Use with caution in patients with renal impairment. Stop immediately and seek medical attention if allergic reaction occurs.
