Indication

Treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women; treatment to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis.

Ingredients

• Alendronate sodium USP equivalent to Alendronic acid 70 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician. Typical dose: one 70 mg tablet once weekly. Take on an empty stomach with a full glass of plain water, at least 30 minutes before the first food, drink, or medication of the day. Remain upright for at least 30 minutes after taking.

Side effects

• Consult a doctor or pharmacist if side effects occur. May include gastrointestinal effects (oesophageal irritation
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• constipation
• diarrhoea)
• musculoskeletal pain
• and headache. Stop use and seek medical attention if serious adverse events develop.

Precautions

• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. Contraindicated in oesophageal abnormalities
• inability to stand/sit upright for 30 minutes
• hypocalcaemia
• or severe renal impairment. Stop use and consult a doctor if oesophageal symptoms (dysphagia
• pain on swallowing) or allergic reaction occur.
