Indication
- Chronic constipation - Portal-systemic hepatic encephalopathy - Softening of stools for medical purposes - Regulation of physiological colonic rhythm
Ingredients
- Lactulose
Direction
Take orally as a single daily dose or divided into two doses. Can be taken undiluted or mixed with fruit juice or water.
Side effects
- Flatulence and bloating
- Abdominal pain and cramping
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea with high doses
- Electrolyte imbalance from overuse
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with galactosemia
- Avoid use in gastrointestinal obstruction
- Use with caution in diabetic patients
- Not for patients with fructose intolerance
