Indication

Treatment of hyperthyroidism, including preparation for thyroidectomy and management before or after radioactive iodine therapy.

Ingredients

• Carbimazole 5 mg

Direction

For oral use. Dose to be individualised by a doctor; refer to the package insert for full dosage information.

Side effects

• May cause nausea
• headache
• joint pain
• mild stomach upset
• skin rash and itching. Rarely a serious fall in white blood cells (agranulocytosis) may occur. Report any sore throat
• fever
• mouth ulcers or infection to a doctor immediately
• and consult a doctor or pharmacist if any unusual symptoms occur.

Precautions

• Not for patients with severe blood disorders or hypersensitivity to carbimazole. Use with caution and under medical supervision during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Regular blood and thyroid function monitoring is advised. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
