Indication

Used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, combining a DPP-4 inhibitor (sitagliptin) with metformin.

Ingredients

• Sitagliptin 50 mg (as phosphate monohydrate)
• Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician or see package insert for full prescribing information. Usually taken twice daily with meals.

Side effects

• May cause diarrhea
• nausea
• stomach upset
• headache
• or low blood sugar (especially when used with other diabetes medicines). If you experience severe symptoms

Precautions

• Do not use in severe kidney disease
• metabolic acidosis
• or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform your doctor of all medicines you take. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if pregnant
• breastfeeding
• or before procedures using contrast dye.
