Indication

Treatment of type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus, particularly in overweight patients, when diet and exercise alone do not adequately control blood sugar.

Ingredients

• Metformin hydrochloride 850 mg

Direction

Take orally as directed by the physician, usually with or after meals to reduce stomach upset. The dose is adjusted individually based on blood glucose levels.

Side effects

• May cause nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• abdominal discomfort and a metallic taste
• especially at the start of treatment. Rarely
• lactic acidosis may occur. For any concerns
• consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

• Not for patients with severe kidney or liver impairment
• or conditions causing tissue hypoxia. Should be stopped before surgery or contrast
• dye imaging. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• especially if pregnant
• breastfeeding or drinking alcohol.
