Indication
- Prevention of scurvy - Treatment of scurvy - Acute vitamin C deficiency - Conditions requiring vitamin C supplementation
Ingredients
- Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)
Direction
To be administered parenterally (intravenously, intramuscularly, or subcutaneously) by a healthcare professional. Dosage depends on the severity of deficiency and patient age.
Side effects
- Diarrhea
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Hyperoxaluria
- Renal oxalate calculi formation
- Diuretic action at high doses
Precautions
- Contraindicated in hyperoxaluria
- Use with care in renal failure
- Risk of renal oxalate calculi
- Risk of hemolysis in G6PD deficiency
- May induce tolerance with high doses
