Indication
Folic acid (vitamin B9) supplement used to treat and prevent folate deficiency and folate-deficiency anaemia (megaloblastic anaemia). It is also used before and during pregnancy to help prevent neural tube defects in the developing baby, and to cover increased folate requirements.
Ingredients
- Folic Acid 5 mg
Direction
Oral route. Usual dose: 1 to 3 tablets per day, or as prescribed by your doctor. Read the leaflet before use.
Side effects
- Generally well tolerated at usual doses
- Occasional mild gastrointestinal upset (nausea
- bloating
- flatulence)
- Rarely
- allergic reactions
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs
Precautions
- Not recommended in patients with untreated vitamin B12 deficiency
- as folic acid may mask the signs of pernicious anaemia
- Use under medical advice if you have any chronic illness
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children
