Bestatin 20 20 mg

Indication

Simvastatin is a lipid-lowering agent (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, a statin) used to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, apolipoprotein B and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients at risk.

Ingredients

• Simvastatin 20 mg

Direction

Take orally as directed by your physician, usually once daily in the evening. The usual dose range is 10-40 mg per day. Follow your doctor's prescription; do not adjust the dose yourself.

Side effects

• Muscle pain
• tenderness or weakness (myalgia)
• rarely serious muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis)
• Headache
• constipation
• abdominal pain or nausea
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs

Precautions

• Contraindicated in active liver disease
• pregnancy and breast
• feeding
• Report unexplained muscle pain
• tenderness or weakness to your doctor promptly
• Avoid grapefruit juice and use caution with other medicines that interact with simvastatin
• Limit alcohol intake
• periodic liver function monitoring may be required
