Indication
Bromazepam is a benzodiazepine used for the symptomatic treatment of severe and/or disabling anxiety, and for the prevention and treatment of delirium tremens and other alcohol withdrawal manifestations.
Ingredients
- Bromazepam 6 mg
Direction
Take by mouth as directed by a physician. Treatment begins with the lowest effective dose without exceeding the maximum. In normal practice 1 tablet daily divided (e.g. quarter morning, quarter noon, half evening); in psychiatry 6-18 mg daily, up to 24-36 mg for hospitalised patients. Reduce the dose in the elderly, children and in renal or hepatic impairment, and taper gradually before stopping.
Side effects
- Drowsiness
- sedation and daytime sleepiness
- Muscle weakness
- dizziness or unsteadiness
- Confusion
- impaired memory or coordination
- Dependence and withdrawal symptoms with prolonged use
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs
Precautions
- May be habit
- forming
- use only as prescribed and for the shortest time needed
- May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery
- Avoid alcohol during treatment
- Use with caution in the elderly and in respiratory
- renal or hepatic impairment
- avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor
