Diamicron MR 60 mg

Indication

For the treatment of type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus in adults, to control blood glucose when diet, physical exercise and weight reduction alone are not sufficient.

Ingredients

• Gliclazide 60 mg

Direction

Usually taken once daily with breakfast, at the dose prescribed by the doctor. The scored tablet may be swallowed whole or split into two equal halves; do not chew or crush.

Side effects

• Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)
• especially if meals are skipped
• Gastrointestinal upset such as nausea or abdominal discomfort
• Rarely blood disorders or skin reactions
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs

Precautions

• Do not use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
• Risk of hypoglycaemia is higher with irregular meals
