Indication

A lipid-regulating agent used to lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides, and to raise HDL cholesterol, in patients with high blood lipids. It is also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke, together with diet.

Ingredients

• Atorvastatin 10 mg (as atorvastatin calcium trihydrate)

Direction

Take one tablet orally once daily, at any time of day, with or without food, or as directed by a physician. Maintain a cholesterol-lowering diet during treatment. Swallow whole with water.

Side effects

• Muscle aches
• tenderness or weakness (report unexplained or persistent muscle pain to a doctor promptly)
• Headache
• Nausea
• constipation
• diarrhoea or indigestion
• Raised liver enzymes

Precautions

• Tell your doctor if you have liver disease
• drink large amounts of alcohol
• or develop unexplained muscle pain
• Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take
• as some interact with atorvastatin
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs
