Metformin Denk 500 500 mg

Indication

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in overweight patients, when diet and exercise alone do not achieve adequate blood glucose control. It may be used alone or together with other oral antidiabetic medicines or insulin.

Ingredients

• Metformin hydrochloride 500 mg

Direction

Take orally with or after meals as directed by a physician. The dose is adjusted individually based on blood glucose levels; it is usually started low and increased gradually to reduce gastrointestinal upset. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Follow the prescribed dose and do not exceed it.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain and loss of appetite
• especially at the start of treatment
• Metallic taste
• Vitamin B12 reduction with long
• term use
• Rarely
• lactic acidosis (a serious build
• up of lactic acid)
• seek urgent medical attention if severe weakness
• muscle pain
• trouble breathing or unusual drowsiness occurs

Precautions

• Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems
• heart failure or a severe infection
• Stop before surgery or procedures using iodinated contrast dye
• as advised by your doctor
• Avoid excessive alcohol intake
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs
