Indication

Antiviral for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections of the skin and mucous membranes (including genital herpes and cold sores), for herpes zoster (shingles) and varicella (chickenpox), and for the suppression and prevention of recurrent herpes simplex infections.

Ingredients

• Aciclovir 400 mg

Direction

For oral use. The usual adult dose for herpes simplex is 200 to 400 mg taken five times daily; for herpes zoster, 800 mg five times daily. Doses are reduced in children and in renal impairment. Refer to the package insert and take exactly as directed by a doctor or pharmacist.

• Fatigue

Precautions

• Maintain adequate fluid intake during treatment
• especially at higher doses.
• Use with caution in patients with impaired kidney function or in the elderly
