Diamicron MR 30 mg

Indication

For the treatment of type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus in adults, when diet, physical exercise and weight reduction alone are not sufficient to control blood glucose.

Ingredients

• Gliclazide 30 mg

Direction

On doctor's prescription only. Oral route. Usually one tablet daily taken at breakfast, adjusted by the physician according to blood glucose; swallow whole without chewing. Follow the physician's instructions.

Side effects

• Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) with symptoms such as sweating
• shakiness
• hunger
• dizziness or confusion
• Nausea
• abdominal discomfort or digestive upset
• Skin reactions such as rash or itching
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs

Precautions

• Do not skip meals while taking this medicine
• as it may cause low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia)
• Use with caution in the elderly and in patients with kidney or liver impairment
• avoid alcohol
• Not for use in type 1 diabetes
• diabetic ketoacidosis
• pregnancy or breastfeeding unless directed by a physician
