Getformin 1 mg / 500 mg

Indication

Getformin combines glimepiride and metformin and is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled by diet, exercise or a single oral antidiabetic medicine. It helps lower and control blood glucose levels.

Ingredients

• Glimepiride 1 mg
• Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician; see the package insert for full prescribing information. The tablets are usually taken with meals. Do not change the dose without medical advice.

Side effects

• Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia): shakiness
• sweating
• dizziness
• hunger or confusion
• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• abdominal discomfort or metallic taste (metformin)
• Rarely
• lactic acidosis (a serious build
• up of lactic acid)
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs

Precautions

• Take with food and monitor blood sugar to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia
• Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems
• metformin is not suitable in significant renal impairment
• Avoid excessive alcohol
• which increases the risk of lactic acidosis and low blood sugar
