Indication
Getformin combines glimepiride and metformin and is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled by diet, exercise or a single oral antidiabetic medicine. It helps lower and control blood glucose levels.
Ingredients
- Glimepiride 1 mg
- Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg
Direction
As directed by the physician; see the package insert for full prescribing information. The tablets are usually taken with meals. Do not change the dose without medical advice.
Side effects
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia): shakiness
- sweating
- dizziness
- hunger or confusion
- Nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhoea
- abdominal discomfort or metallic taste (metformin)
- Rarely
- lactic acidosis (a serious build
- up of lactic acid)
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs
Precautions
- Take with food and monitor blood sugar to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia
- Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems
- metformin is not suitable in significant renal impairment
- Avoid excessive alcohol
- which increases the risk of lactic acidosis and low blood sugar
