Indication
Getryl contains glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, and is used together with diet and exercise to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, helping to lower and control blood glucose levels.
Ingredients
- Glimepiride 2 mg
Direction
As directed by the physician; see the package insert for full prescribing information. Glimepiride is usually taken once daily with or just before breakfast. Do not change the dose without medical advice.
Side effects
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia): shakiness
- sweating
- dizziness
- hunger or confusion
- Nausea
- stomach upset or weight gain
- Rarely
- allergic skin reactions or changes in blood cell counts
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs
Precautions
- Take at the same time each day with food and monitor blood sugar to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia
- Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems
- or if you are elderly
- as the risk of low blood sugar is higher
- Avoid excessive alcohol
- which can increase the risk of low blood sugar
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs
