Getryl 3 mg

Indication

Getryl contains glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, and is used together with diet and exercise to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, helping to lower and control blood glucose levels.

Ingredients

• Glimepiride 3 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician; see the package insert for full prescribing information. Glimepiride is usually taken once daily with or just before breakfast. Do not change the dose without medical advice.

Side effects

• Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia): shakiness
• sweating
• dizziness
• hunger or confusion
• Nausea
• stomach upset or weight gain
• Rarely
• allergic skin reactions or changes in blood cell counts
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs

Precautions

• Take at the same time each day with food and monitor blood sugar to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia
• Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems
• or if you are elderly
• as the risk of low blood sugar is higher
• Avoid excessive alcohol
• which can increase the risk of low blood sugar
