Indication

Emergency contraceptive pill. Used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure. It is a backup method and not intended for regular contraception.

Ingredients

• Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg

Direction

Take one tablet as soon as possible, preferably within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse, or as directed by the physician.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting
• Lower abdominal pain
• Fatigue and headache
• Dizziness
• Breast tenderness
• Changes in menstrual bleeding or timing of the next period
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs

Precautions

• Not for use as a regular contraceptive method
• Does not protect against sexually transmitted infections
• If vomiting occurs within about 2 hours of taking the tablet
• seek advice as a repeat dose may be needed
• Not to be used if pregnancy is confirmed
