Indication
- Acute non-specific diarrhoea symptomatic relief - Reduce volume of ileostomy discharge
Ingredients
- Loperamide Hydrochloride
Direction
Take orally. Adults: Initial dose 4 mg, then 2 mg after each loose stool, up to 16 mg daily. Children over 8 years: 2 mg after each loose stool, up to 6 mg daily.
Side effects
- Constipation
- Abdominal cramping or discomfort
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
- Rare skin rash
- Rare paralytic ileus
Precautions
- Do not use with bloody diarrhoea
- Do not use with acute colitis
- Avoid if bowel obstruction is present
- Seek medical help after 48 hours
- Ensure adequate rehydration during treatment
- Use caution with hepatic impairment
- Contraindicated in children under 6 years
