Cimetidine 400 mg

Indication

Treatment of active gastric and duodenal ulcers, maintenance therapy of duodenal ulcer, reflux oesophagitis (gastro-oesophageal reflux disease) and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Direction

Adults: for gastric or duodenal ulcer, take 1 tablet at breakfast and 1 tablet at bedtime, or 2 tablets at bedtime. Maintenance: 1 tablet at bedtime. Use as directed by a physician.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• dizziness
• headache
• tiredness and skin rash may occur
• rarely confusion (especially in the elderly) or breast enlargement in men. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if side effects occur or persist.

Precautions

• Rule out gastric malignancy before treatment. Use with caution in the elderly
• in kidney or liver impairment
• during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• or with other medicines. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
