Glucophage 850 mg

Indication

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in overweight patients, when diet and exercise alone do not adequately control blood sugar. Used alone or together with other antidiabetic medicines or insulin.

• Metformin hydrochloride 850 mg

Direction

Before any use, please read the enclosed leaflet carefully. Do not exceed the stated dose. For oral use — swallow the tablets with a meal to reduce stomach upset, as directed by the physician.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain
• loss of appetite and metallic taste are common
• especially at the start of treatment. Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious risk. If you experience any side effect
• consult a doctor or pharmacist. Stop use and seek medical help if irritation or an allergic reaction occurs.

Precautions

• Prescription only medicine. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not exceed the stated dose. Not for patients with severe kidney impairment
• diabetic ketoacidosis or acute conditions that may affect kidney function. Tell your doctor before any X
• ray examination using contrast dye or before surgery. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• especially if pregnant
• breastfeeding or taking other medicines. Stop use and seek medical help if irritation or an allergic reaction occurs.
