Indication
For short-term treatment of infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, bone and joint. Klamentin is bactericidal to a variety of bacteria including beta-lactamase producing microorganisms resistant to ampicillin and amoxicillin.
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin
- Clavulanic acid
Direction
Dissolve the granules in sufficient water (about 5-10 ml for 1 sachet) and stir well before use. The dose is based on the amoxicillin component. Take immediately before meals to reduce stomach and intestinal intolerance. Children aged 3 months and older: otitis media, sinusitis, respiratory infections and more severe infections 45 mg/kg body weight/day in 2 divided doses; less severe infections 25 mg/kg body weight/day in 2 divided doses. Duration of therapy is 5-10 days and should not exceed 14 days without re-examination. Or as directed by the physician.
Side effects
- May include diarrhoea
- nausea
- vomiting
- abdominal discomfort and skin rash. Allergic reactions
- including rare but serious hypersensitivity reactions
- can occur. Consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- For prescription only. Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to penicillins and cephalosporins
- severe hepatic and renal impairment
- a history of jaundice or hepatic dysfunction during previous penicillin treatment
- and infectious mononucleosis. Keep out of reach of children. Read the directions carefully before use. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
