Indication
- Edema related to heart failure - Edema related to renal disease - Edema related to hepatic cirrhosis - Management of hypertension - Fluid retention (congestion)
Ingredients
- Furosemide
Direction
Take orally, usually once daily in the morning to avoid nighttime urination. Can be taken with or without food.
Side effects
- Excessive urination
- Hypokalemia (low potassium)
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Muscle cramps
- Dehydration
- Orthostatic hypotension
Precautions
- Risk of severe dehydration
- Monitor for electrolyte imbalance
- Potential cross
- sensitivity with sulfonamides
- Monitor blood pressure regularly
- Kidney function monitoring required
