Lopid 300 mg

Indication

The lipid regulating drug for prevention of coronary heart disease. Gemfibrozil lowers raised triglycerides and LDL cholesterol and raises HDL cholesterol in patients with dyslipidaemia.

Direction

For oral use. See the package insert for details. Usually taken twice daily 30 minutes before the morning and evening meals, or as directed by the physician.

Side effects

• May include indigestion
• abdominal pain
• nausea
• diarrhoea
• headache and dizziness. Muscle pain
• tenderness or weakness (myopathy) and gallstones can occur
• report unexplained muscle symptoms to a doctor promptly. Consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

• Prescription only. Not for patients with severe liver or kidney impairment
• gallbladder disease
• or known hypersensitivity to gemfibrozil. Do not take together with statins or repaglinide unless a doctor directs it
