Rovista 10 mg

Indication

Used to lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides and to raise HDL-cholesterol in adults with primary hypercholesterolaemia or mixed dyslipidaemia, as an adjunct to diet. Also used to slow the progression of atherosclerosis and to reduce cardiovascular risk.

Ingredients

• Rosuvastatin 10 mg (as calcium salt)

Direction

Take one tablet by mouth once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day. Swallow whole with water. Consult the package insert for full prescribing information or take as directed by the physician. Continue the recommended diet during treatment.

Side effects

• Headache
• dizziness
• Muscle pain (myalgia)
• muscle weakness
• Abdominal pain
• constipation
• nausea
• Rarely: rhabdomyolysis (severe muscle breakdown) — seek medical attention for unexplained muscle pain
• tenderness or weakness
• especially with fever or malaise
• Increased liver enzymes
• rarely diabetes mellitus or proteinuria

Precautions

• Contraindicated in active liver disease
• during pregnancy and breastfeeding
• and in women of childbearing potential not using reliable contraception
• Report any unexplained muscle pain
• tenderness or weakness to a doctor promptly
• Use with caution in kidney impairment
• hypothyroidism
• and in patients with a personal or family history of muscle disorders
• Avoid excessive alcohol intake
• inform the doctor of all other medicines
• especially ciclosporin
• gemfibrozil
• other fibrates or certain antivirals
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs
