KA.NA.SOLVANT CONTAINS 150 mg / 5 ml

Indication

Sterile solvent used to dissolve and reconstitute powdered medicines for intramuscular injection. The benzyl alcohol acts as a local anaesthetic and preservative, reducing the pain of the injection. It is not a treatment in itself and is used only as a diluent as directed by a healthcare professional.

Ingredients

• Benzyl alcohol 150 mg per 5 mL

Direction

For intramuscular use only, and only by a healthcare professional. Withdraw the required volume and use it to reconstitute the powdered medicine exactly as stated in that medicine's package insert. Use immediately after reconstitution and discard any unused portion. Do not inject the solvent on its own.

Side effects

Precautions

• Prescription only. Do not use in newborns or premature infants
• as benzyl alcohol can cause serious toxicity in this age group. Do not use if you are allergic to benzyl alcohol. Not for intravenous use. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breast
• feeding. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
