Vitamin C Injection (Anhui Hongye) 500 mg / 5 ml

Indication

Injectable vitamin C used to prevent and treat vitamin C deficiency (scurvy) and to supplement vitamin C when intake by mouth is not possible or not sufficient, for example during illness, poor absorption or increased requirements. Given by intramuscular or intravenous injection by a healthcare professional.

Ingredients

• Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) 0.5 g per 5 mL ampoule

Direction

For intramuscular or intravenous injection by a healthcare professional. Recommended dose — Adults: 100-250 mg once, 1 to 3 times daily. Children: 100-300 mg daily, in divided doses. See the package insert for more details.

Side effects

• May cause pain or irritation at the injection site
• nausea
• or dizziness. Rapid intravenous injection may cause faintness. High doses over a long period may increase the risk of kidney stones. Allergic reactions are rare. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if you experience any unexpected reaction.

Precautions

• Use with caution in people with a history of kidney stones
• kidney disease
• or the blood disorders G6PD deficiency or haemochromatosis. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast
• feeding
• or if you are taking any other medicines. Do not use if the solution is discoloured or contains particles. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
